Okehampton is a bustling market town situated at the Northern edge of the Dartmoor National Park. It is quickly accessible from the main thoroughfare, the A30, which goes through Devon and Cornwall.

Okehampton has a population of around 7,200 people. The population continues to expand with new developments currently being built and planned.

Much of the activity - whether commercial, social or policing – is focused in and around the town centre due to the high concentration of shops and licensed premises found there.

Okehampton is a safe place to live with the likelihood of being a victim of crime falling well below the national average. In addition, the incidents of serious crime are very low indeed. The main problems are antisocial behaviour, spontaneous incidents of vandalism and shoplifting.

You are welcome to contact our team with any comments or concerns you may have about your neighbourhood and we will endeavour to respond to your local policing needs.

If you attend Okehampton Police Station to report something you will have to use the wall phone outside of the station which will ring 101 or 999 only as we no longer have a front office. If you wish to speak with a member of staff personally please visit Heavitree Police Station in Exeter as it is the closest station with a front office.
