Bideford Town Centre is situated around the quay area of Bideford. The port at Bideford although small by comparsion to other docks is still a working dock with large ships often seen along the waters edge. It is also where The Oldenburg ship departs for trips to Lundy Island throughout the Spring and Summer. Bideford town also has many events on an annual basis including the Reggatta and Carnival at the begining of September and the New Years Eve celebrations, which attract up to 10,000 revellers annually and is arguably the largest New Years celebrations in the South West.

The predominately residential area of Bideford West is home to all the main secondary schools for the area, both state and independant. Bideford College is the main state school comprising approximately 1800 pupils and has currently gone through a £58million redevelopment. The independant school in the area is Kingsley College.

The area also has a small hospital which includes a minor injuries unit and Accident and Emergency Department.

In Atlantic Village there is also an out of town shopping Mall containing numerous retail outlets including ASDA.

The Bideford POLICE COMMUNITY OFFICE is open at WESTCROFT school, the local officers will now be using this as their daily base, it does not replace the police station but is an additional resource for the local team to use to help forge closer links with the community.
