An eagle-eyed UKCrimeStats visitor has noticed – albeit inadvertently – that there are 2 neighbourhoods called Plymouth on UKCrimeStats in South Wales.

    1. Plymouth, Merthyr Tydfil CF48
    2. Plymouth, Penarth CF64

These also exist on police.uk hereĀ

We do have both as well but our database is only picking up one of them as a properly separate neighbourhood page because of the duplicate name of the source data. I will raise this with the Home Office and our developers. Neighbourhoods in general have been a nightmare since the launch of UKCrimeStats because police.uk failed to institute data governance over them. What this means is that Police Forces have been free to change codes, neighbourhood boundaries and names (including the creation of duplicates) without full appreciation of the downstream data impact. This matters because all databases like ours depend on always and never.
