From May 2013, the following changes were made to the crime categories:
I) The violent crime category was renamed "violence and sexual offences"
2) A new category for "bicycle theft" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
3) A new category for "theft from the person" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
4) Public disorder and weapons were then split into two new categories; "public order" and "possession of weapons"
5) Both "other firearms offences" and "other knives offences" which were in "other crime" were moved into "possession of weapons".

Stanmore is a large residential area in the south of Winchester. The area has a lot of housing and is a highly populated area. It is bordered to the north by Romsey Road, where Kings school (one of the largest secondary schools in Winchester) is located and to the south by St Cross. The Stanmore area comprises of schools, local shops, community centres, social clubs, sheltered housing, play parks and churches. It is the busiest part of this beat area.



Bordering Stanmore is Badger Farm. This is a newer, slightly smaller residential area, which also includes the large Sainsburys supermarket, a community centre, doctors surgery and other businesses.



Olivers Battery borders Badger Farm and is another residential area. It includes local shops, a church and a primary school.



St Cross is the area below Stanmore which runs along either side of St Cross Road. It is predominantly housing, but also includes business premises, a petrol station and some shops and parts of Winchester College.
