From May 2013, the following changes were made to the crime categories:
I) The violent crime category was renamed "violence and sexual offences"
2) A new category for "bicycle theft" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
3) A new category for "theft from the person" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
4) Public disorder and weapons were then split into two new categories; "public order" and "possession of weapons"
5) Both "other firearms offences" and "other knives offences" which were in "other crime" were moved into "possession of weapons".

Helston is a vibrant market town at the head of the Lizard Peninsula steeped in history. It is the home of the famous Helston Furry Dance which attracts many visitors to the town who come to watch the dances held throughout the day.
There is also the nearby naval base of RNAS Culdrose which is the largest helicopter base in Europe and is the home to the Search and Rescue 771 squadron. Culdrose also hold an air day in the summer which attracts many visitors.
Helston School is the largest comprehensive school in Cornwall, as it services all the primary schools on the Lizard peninsula. The neighbourhood team work closley with the school and have involved the pupils in the PACT process.
