3) A new category for "theft from the person" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
4) Public disorder and weapons were then split into two new categories; "public order" and "possession of weapons"
5) Both "other firearms offences" and "other knives offences" which were in "other crime" were moved into "possession of weapons".
The Economic Policy Centre www.economicpolicycentre.com has made every effort in order to ensure that the data for UkCrimeStats is accurate and up to date. However, we are aware of certain deficiencies in this data which are beyond our control. That's because as a 3rd party developer, we do not collect the data, the Police do who then hand it over to another data company to release to 3rd party developers such as ourselves. We only download and analyse it so that you can use it. For full detail of these deficiencies, please read here.
Welcome to our beautiful islands! There are 5 inhabited Islands set some 28 miles from mainland Cornwall. The last census stated we have 2153 residents with the majority settled on St Mary’s.
Tourism is a major feature of Island life, with more than 100,000 passengers coming through the airport in an average year.
Policing here is quite unique, the 3 sworn staff really do live above the 'shop'. With our PCSO and Special Constable we have many years of experience Policing Scilly between us.
Boat travel is a part of our life with regular "off island" visits, often sailing between the Islands to visit or patrol on any of the five inhabited islands. As with all neighbourhood teams we are working out ways to make sure our community can really help shape the Policing priorities.
We are eager to solicit the views of all Residents and visitors to Scilly that form the community here to better understand the issues that Policy dictates that we should hold monthly meetings and regular consultative meetings but on Scilly these have not traditionally worked. Instead we have an informal consultation system where people approach us with their issues because we are known within the community. For those that wish to there are other ways of letting us know what you would like us to focus on; email the team, call us on 422444 or pop in and see our police station at Garrison Lane.
Quite a lot of our time is spent maintaining the safe way of life Islanders and visitors have grown used to and it is most satisfying for the policing team to really see the difference we can make to the quality of life on the islands.
