I) The violent crime category was renamed "violence and sexual offences"
2) A new category for "bicycle theft" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
3) A new category for "theft from the person" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
4) Public disorder and weapons were then split into two new categories; "public order" and "possession of weapons"
5) Both "other firearms offences" and "other knives offences" which were in "other crime" were moved into "possession of weapons".

The Liskeard Rural policing area is made up of nine parishes around the busy market town of Liskeard.

Starting from the west and working clockwise around the town we have Warleggan, St Neot, St Cleer, Linkinhorne, St Ive, Menheniot, Dobwalls & Trewidland, St Keyne, St Pinnock and Broadoak.

The Rural area covers just over 25,000 h/a of land with the population standing at just under 13,000 people (per 2011 survey). Each individual parish has it’s own challenges and for this purpose there are two officers, one Constable and one PCSO, dedicated in the neighbourhood team at Liskeard to cover them.

PC Helen Priestley and PCSO Bob Anslow are not only working towards making the parishes safer, but are also engaging with each community to strengthen links with the police. The rural parishes are alike in being predominantly residential, but each village differs in the type of community member living there.

Dobwalls, St.Ive and Menheniot primarily consist of working families whereas St Neot is mainly a retirement haven, so the way we tackle issues and problem solve in these areas will be different.

As the parishes of St.Cleer and Linkinhorne are mainly surrounded by open moorland, the issues raised there to police are different from the other areas, as offences under the Wildlife Countryside Act are more prevalent.

Overall though, the Liskeard Rural area is a beautiful and safe place to live.
