In September 2011, Other Crime was divided into 6 categories - Drugs, Public Disorder & Weapons (which was later split further and so is not displayed here), Criminal Damage & Arson (CD&A), Theft - Shoplifting, Theft-Other and Other.
From May 2013, the following changes were made to the crime categories:
I) The violent crime category was renamed "violence and sexual offences"
2) A new category for "bicycle theft" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
3) A new category for "theft from the person" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
4) Public disorder and weapons were then split into two new categories; "public order" and "possession of weapons"
5) Both "other firearms offences" and "other knives offences" which were in "other crime" were moved into "possession of weapons".

Topsham
The total population of Topsham as recorded in the 2001 Census was 5,023, in 2,594 households. Topsham is an attractive Devon town situated on the Exe estuary. Although part of Exeter, it maintains a distinct identity. Loved by its locals, and savoured by those who visit, Topsham offers tourists and residents alike a mix of river walks, wildlife, unique shops and restaurants and provides a quiet space in the country to sit and watch the sailing boats go by. Also part of Topsham is the newly built Newcourt estate. Now well established, when complete will consist of over 3,000 households, it's own school, shops and facilities.
Countess Wear
The total population of Countess Wear including the Southbrook Estate as recorded in the 2001 Census was 9,378, in 3,619 households. Named after the Countess of Topsham who fought with the rulers of Exeter over loading rights and thus established the weir, hence the name. The ancient Countess Wear bridge, is the lowest crossing place on the tidal River Exe. Tourists are attracted to this part of the Exe floodplain by its wildlife hotspots and the historic paper mill.
