From May 2013, the following changes were made to the crime categories:
I) The violent crime category was renamed "violence and sexual offences"
2) A new category for "bicycle theft" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
3) A new category for "theft from the person" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
4) Public disorder and weapons were then split into two new categories; "public order" and "possession of weapons"
5) Both "other firearms offences" and "other knives offences" which were in "other crime" were moved into "possession of weapons".

Withycombe Raleigh & Halsdon consist of 3 parishes and has a population of 10,462. The population is very varied. It has 3 primary schools and the community college which is the largest in Europe per population and the site crosses into both the Withycombe and Halsdon wards. Much of the activity concentrates around the community college during school term.  The team is based at Exmouth police station. The Neighbourhood is a safe place to live with the likelihood of being a victim of crime being well below the national average. In addition the incidents of serious crime are very low indeed. The main problems are congestion complaints outside and around the schools during term time and spontaneous incidents of vandalism committed by those passing through the area and anti social behaviour.
