The Economic Policy Centre www.economicpolicycentre.com has made every effort in order to ensure that the data for UkCrimeStats is accurate and up to date. However, we are aware of certain deficiencies in this data which are beyond our control. That's because as a 3rd party developer, we do not collect the data, the Police do who then hand it over to another data company to release to 3rd party developers such as ourselves. We only download and analyse it so that you can use it. For full detail of these deficiencies, please read here.
The West Exe neighbourhood is mainly urban but also has the wider surrounding rural areas integrated within this ward. The area has a varied population from young families to pensioners. There is a very strong community feel in the area with the two large factories and the social clubs associated with them enabling a close knit community. Heathcoat Community centre is in the heart of the area and is used widely for various different social and educational purposes, as well as providing a very good café.
In addition to the West Exe area, Jeanette also covers Tiverton High School, a responsibility she shares with PCSO Martin Stephens. The West Exe area is one of five patches supervised by the Neighbourhood Team Leader Sergeant Rupert Dodge and are based at Tiverton Police Station.
West Exe is a safe place to live with the likelihood of being a victim of crime being below the national average. In addition to this, the incidents of serious crime are very low indeed. Currently the main perceived problems within the neighbourhood relate to antisocial behaviour and minor criminal damage in the vicinity and surrounding areas of West Exe Park, however this is more prevalent at weekends. Concerns have also been expressed in relation to speeding traffic on the A396 at Ashley. Both these issues are being address by the Neighbourhood Team.
