From May 2013, the following changes were made to the crime categories:
I) The violent crime category was renamed "violence and sexual offences"
2) A new category for "bicycle theft" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
3) A new category for "theft from the person" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
4) Public disorder and weapons were then split into two new categories; "public order" and "possession of weapons"
5) Both "other firearms offences" and "other knives offences" which were in "other crime" were moved into "possession of weapons".

The Braunton urban neighbourhood is made up of the parishes of Braunton and Heanton Punchardon, including the villages of Knowle, Wrafton, and Chivenor. Situated around the main A361 between Barnstaple and Ilfracombe, and the crossroads to the main coastal road to Saunton, Georgeham and Croyde. The Neighbourhood has 4 schools: Caen primary, Kingsacre primary, Southmead primary & Braunton School & community college. In total they provide for around 1,500 students.
The neighbourhood has a population of around 8,500 persons in 3,500 households, the highest percentage age band is 45 to 64 years having 27.2% of the population.
During the holiday season the Urban and Rural Neighbourhoods of Braunton can provide accommodation forĀ a further 15,500 persons, not including day-trippers and other visitors.
