In September 2011, Other Crime was divided into 6 categories - Drugs, Public Disorder & Weapons (which was later split further and so is not displayed here), Criminal Damage & Arson (CD&A), Theft - Shoplifting, Theft-Other and Other.
From May 2013, the following changes were made to the crime categories:
I) The violent crime category was renamed "violence and sexual offences"
2) A new category for "bicycle theft" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
3) A new category for "theft from the person" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
4) Public disorder and weapons were then split into two new categories; "public order" and "possession of weapons"
5) Both "other firearms offences" and "other knives offences" which were in "other crime" were moved into "possession of weapons".

The neighbourhood known as Higher Compton and Mannamead covers Mannamead from Elm Road upwards, all of Compton and the half of Hartley which is on the right hand side of Mannamead Road as you travel north.
The area is mainly residential, most houses being privately owned.
There are a few business premises mainly comprising of smaller retail outlets.
The area has one school, Compton Primary which has over 400 pupils, some of whom travel in from other areas.
Park areas include Hartley Park and Collingswood Playing Fields both of which have suffered youth anti-social behaviour in the past which has been successfully dealt with by the Neighbourhood Policing and Partnership team.
There are a few licensed premises which are well run and do not cause many problems.
There are two churches, Compton Methodist and Emmanuel Church on Mannamead Road.
On the whole, the area suffers from little crime or anti-social behaviour which makes it a pleasant place to live.
