The area of Mount Gould covers St Jude’s and Mount Gould. This area is mainly residential with sizeable parkland at Tothill which is currently being developed and is going to have various activities for young people incorporated within the grounds.

There is a mixture of private, council and housing association-owned residential properties throughout the area, which benefits from the large amount of green space and this area also has a large student accommodation mixed in with local housing which is within easy walking distance of the city centre.

Within Mount Gould there is a multicultural centre, which has links to ethnic minority groups throughout the Plymouth area. The Mount Gould hospital has also had a new build, which has just been completed.

Great work has been done to make contact with local resident groups, to help reduce crime and antisocial behaviour, from being a regular occurrence to all but stopping. There are also moves within the area to improve activities for young people.

Like all areas, Mount Gould has its share of crime but the introduction of police community support officers has helped to reduce crime and the fear of it.

The Friends of Tothill are an active group which is heavily involved in the wellbeing and improvement of the local area.
