From May 2013, the following changes were made to the crime categories:
I) The violent crime category was renamed "violence and sexual offences"
2) A new category for "bicycle theft" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
3) A new category for "theft from the person" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
4) Public disorder and weapons were then split into two new categories; "public order" and "possession of weapons"
5) Both "other firearms offences" and "other knives offences" which were in "other crime" were moved into "possession of weapons".

This Safer Neighbourhood area covers Long Eaton south areas. It belongs to the Long Eaton policing section. On the area's southern boundary lies Sawley, a suburb of the town of Long Eaton, which lies between the two cities of Derby and Nottingham. The Long Eaton South Safer Neighbourhood area covers the two halves of the village - Old Sawley, which is the old village area, and New Sawley, which is mainly made up of a modern residential area called the Dales Estate. The area also cover a huge industrial estate which is known as Acton Road and Trent Lock which is the joining point for several canals and rivers.
