We are very pleased to welcome a lot of interest emanating from Hong Kong over the last year. Its people can lay claim to one of world’s greatest postwar economic growth and freedom stories that is tragically being undone by authoritarianism.
On a separate note, just over a year ago, we decided to offer GoCardless as a payment solution which for us had the benefit of charging much lower fees than PayPal for recurring payments. I was even tempted to close down PayPal completely. I’m now glad I didn’t because we now have a lot of new members originating from Hong Kong who can’t actually use GoCardless with Hong Kong Dollars. But they can use PayPal.
It just shows the importance of giving customers a choice.
