What is a typical month of crime in February?

We have just updated for February 2023 and now we have 10 years of February Data using the same crime category, I thought it would be interesting to look at trends. Here is a graph that tells you everything. The vertical lines allow you to easily see where February is and you can see quite clearly that February is typically the lowest crime month of the year. However, what we have seen over the last few years is a marked decline in ASB and in increase in violent crime.

So February is basically a low crime month largely due to the “seasonal affect” where longer, colder nights keep perpetrators and victims indoors and away from each other. The source data is here, on our National Picture page sourced from www.data.police.uk as always.
