We rely on neighbourhood populations to factor in population density when producing some reports. A particular neighbourhood may show high on crime but if it has a larger population then this can be explained. The following police forces (ordered by the worst offending first) have not supplied population data for some (or all) of their neighbourhoods. In some cases neighbourhoods have a population of 1. Not sure why.

    North Wales Police (283)
    Gwent Police (134)
    Leicestershire Constabulary (65)
    Devon and Cornwall Constabulary (25)
    South Wales Police (17)
    Northumbria Police (10)
    Durham Constabulary (9)
    Essex Police (9)
    Nottinghamshire Police (5)
    Sussex Police (2)
    Kent Police (1)
    West Midlands Police (1)
    Merseyside Police (1)
    South Yorkshire (1)
    Hampshire Constabulary (1)

The numbers in brackets represent the number of neighbourhoods that have a population set to 0 or 1. If anyone from the above forces would like more detailed information on which neighbourhoods they are missing data for please get in touch with us and we will be happy to supply this data.

We’ve seen a huge improvement with the last update – September 2011 – which came at the end of October on this. See item no. 7 here http://www.ukcrimestats.com/Data/ which lists all neighbourhoods which have a population of zero or one and is a live link to our database. We have roughly gone from 10% of the neighbourhoods not having any population data to just over 1%. I’m guessing that the lowest this can go may be about 15, which genuinely have no resident population. But we will find out.
